Living in NY as Fulbrighter

Just one week ago, Sandy went over the east coast... and now the winter arrived in a matter of a few hours... Here some impressions from wednesday: Look from the university window In front of the library...and at 4 aminthe morning, in front of my future...

That was like one of the first things I saw when I woke up in the morning... The pizza packs today... as we had sponsored pizza at our university tonight - unusual, we just had to make up class. And guess what... people had been confused that I was late...

... luckily not serious at all... 2 days "locked" inside - already the worst part no halloween parade and less parties... however we had a nice "Frankenstorm" party ;) a week without university - very bad thing! exams are delayed and weird make-up appointments...

and the started to turn lights on and off to signal its time to go home... Well I will obey after having successfully done my first "Last man standing" session in the library so far (not counting one saturday where they close at 7pm...). Some more sessions...

Most likely, that's part of the experience: hurricane Sandy hits New York! Luckily it is not so bad where I'm staying - so I just went out to take a look at the storm myself. Almost everything is closed today - except the 24/7 store accross the road....

As I have been accepted to the YPP exam I'm now more than ever motivated to learn about UN and everything which relates to it. Therefore I looked forward to this weekend event, organized by one-to-world (same organizations taking as to NYTimes Press e.g.)....

Even though I travel far, I keep in mind what moves my country - and so I got to celebrate the Austrian National Day on the 26th of October at the Austrian Consulate in New York. It was a very nice reception where I met tons of Austrians of all kinds...

reminding me of the first step.. however, today I was once again at a very fancy debate, organized by NYU... as many of my colleagues already experienced and enjoied, sometimes I take a little nap if I'm not so amazed by the speeches.. just as today!...
