I moved in at Midtown!!!!!!
CHEERS
Finally I will be sleeping in my very own bed tonight!!! After crashing 3 couches in the last week, I'm happy to be able to settle down and enjoy the conveniences of my very own space! As you see, sheets on the bed and computer set up - what else do I need? so relax and write a few lines ;).
As you probably know, I live in a shared room with 2 other people. One of them is just sitting over there and he is very nice. Both are from the states, I didn't got to meet the other own yet. The room is ok and my space provides everything I need... but just one little thing happened: For the first time in my life, I really want to clean a window!!! I don't know how meaningful this is next to 8th Avenue, but anyway.... i would like to see something :P. This evening, we also had a meet&greet and I got to know many other students. They are mainly from the United States and I severly raise the average age... weird ;). They went out now but I decided to stay home, enjoy a drink and track my memories as I already had a long night yesterday... speaking of...
When I first came, my first spot was a fellow Austrian fulbrighter studying LLM at columbia (whom I already owe much - yeah Birgit I mean you ^^). We went out and I met a lot of other LLM students. The last few nights I spend at one of these nice colleagues - a girl from Palastina with just an awesome flat! And what happens if everyone stays in small residence rooms and one has got a great flat? Write - preparty takes place there! Yesterday was a LLM party in Midtown and obviously - predrinking at the awesome flat ;). When we went downtown, we have been 5 people. 4 take a cab and the forein matter (non-LLM, meaning me) gets his own cab or takes the subway. As I rarely take a taxi, I went onto the subway which was the best thing i could do. cause someone life seems to love me these days and I got to meet a nice girl who spontanously changed her plans and went with me to the club. The music there was real cool.. .good House DJ with live drummer and saxophon - little DnB, awesome stuff!!! It was a great evening, even though i didn't got much to talk to the LLM-folks... and in the end, I got a cab ;).
However,... it mad me a little tired today ;). Which would have been no problem, if there would not have been another Orientation for my studies. That means, checking in as fast as possible, get rid of my 32 kg backpack and go to the university. Starting was scheduled for 12:00. You know what this means?

Right, it means lunchtime!! American style - 2 7ft long Sandwiches for 30 people... just aaaaaawesome!!!! Really good stuff, and as it was far too much, I could take almost 1ft of sandwich with me ;).
The orientation was very nice and I got to know my future colleagues. People from all over the world with very diverse backgrounds - even one greek guy who does not know for sure if modern economics or development economics will be more important for greece in the next year ;).
As you see, our IPED room (branded!) has everything it needs:
- Chessboards
- A Couch big enough to sleep on
- awesome students
- free printer
- and a nice professor (standing next to the chessboard!)
- Full Lonely Planet collection- good for the preparation of a world journey ;)
So I don't only enjoy the campus, also the studies seem to become pretty interesting.
Finally, I want to share one though from the subway with you:
So why is there an emergency cord? To pull it in case of evacuation?
