From Jack Coffey Field to Central Park

I'm pretty sure everyone knows the latter place, what it is the first? Well, take a look:

As you see, it's the beautiful football field of the University. Remember, Lombardi played once there!!! You see the map of my university and its surroundig. The hall, where I will have most of my lectures is the "Dearley Hall". Unfortunately you find it, because it's in the very same spot where google maps placed "Fordham University" ;).

Adjacent are the botanical garden (where I took the pictures a few days ago..) and the zoo (have to go there on wednesday... free admission :P).

guide.jpgSo what about Jack Coffey Field? Well we had a soccer game there today... international Students against Fordham Rams (the University Team..)! Well... let's put it this way: It was fun :P. Apparently soccer is not yet the N°1 Sport in China as 3/4 of the international students (~200) are asian (and more than half of them from china...).

How do I know that? Well, very easy: I asked. At our wonderful International Student Orientation where they explained everything from the very beginning (e.g. you should take a passport with you when you travel...). At the european table (6 people) we were just joking about the fact, that it might be soon necessary in Europe as well,.. but that's another story.

Nevertheless after 2 hours of useless talking, finally something interesting came up: There is a Fordham Initiative which organises Excursions to the UN and Meetings with Members. As you probably know, I'm thriving to get an internship there next summer and so I will take profit of that.

What happens except lecture stuff at an Orientation? Breakfast & Lunch for free and we even got a free Tour through NYC with an amazing guide (--> picture, he was real cool!). And as I was wearing a very meaningful T-Shirt, I got an additional flyer for the beer museum of NYC (damn where are these dozen flyers...).

Why the T-shirt is meaningful? A quote of Benjamin Franklin is written on it:

Beer is proof that God loves us

and wants us to be happy.

Long-term readers might remind this of a russian proverb.

Today I started looking around for a bike. 6 shops, many ideas and a good end: I know what I want ;). I hope I can provide you soon with a picture of my new baby, which will make more than 20 miles every day I go to campus (I don't have my schedule yet...)

Afterwards I want to the campus for the mentioned soccer game... and then to the tiny little garden in the middle of Manhattan, called Central Park. To be honest... it's HUGE!!! A few impressions:

As you see,.. a very nice time to do sports, relax and watch squirrels (what you can also do on campus btw... oh yeah I haeichhornchen.pngve a picture of that as well... she was looking for stuff in thetrashcan ;).

Guess what I was looking for in Central Park?

... guessed ??... ok then read on ;)

Evidently I was looking for a group with a big skin (finally I know how a football is called :P). I joined in for some play and had a nice afternoon, throwing the ball and improving my skill - I need to be prepared for the intermural teams ;).

Tomorrow I will meet my professor for the first time and will also finally move in at my student residence in Midtown!!!! It's gonna be legend.........

If you enjoied reading, leave me a comment please ;). Looking forward to hear you soon and there will be more articles soon.. also a short story about "Toilet brush, civil responsibility and the environment"!!!

Best wishes from New York
