Reno... 911 is not true!!!

Veröffentlicht auf von Peter

To answer the most important question, which was also urgent to me: Is Reno 911 true?

Reno people seemed quit disappointed when I asked them about Reno 911... Cause sadly it's the only thing the world knows about Reno (like people in the US only know Sound of Music about Austria ^^).

To answer the question: No.. it's not even made in Reno, it's mainly made in Las Vegas!

Anyway.... what really exists:Reno_ClimbingWall.JPG

You might see the wonderful sign in the lower left corner "Reno - The biggest little city in the world", but what's even better: There is a climbing wall on the hotel - 164ft (about 55 meters)!!! Some research linked me here

Unfortunately we had far too many lectures and I had no buddy there... so I haven't touched this wonderful and attracting  wall ;). But nevertheless, some,... well a few... lectures have been interesting - one was also about american food (and culture...):

Well.. what was not so nice to see: Bikes in RenoReno_Fahrrader.JPG

But what the fuck have I done in Reno? Sorry I forgot to mention this point... It was the "Gateway Orientation" for all Fulbright students coming to the United States. That means they put 66 Students from 40+ countries into a nice hotel, gave us a schedule without any free time and made us happy ;). For example with a dinner at the Car Museum of Reno:Reno_Museum.JPG

There was an abundance of awesome cars!!! Once a collection by hotel-owner Harrah's it has been given to the city which created this nice museum... and guess what, I got famous!!! Btw, I also already got a Twitter account

Back to topic... funny things:

RUN WITH THE PACKReno_Wolf.jpg

To clarify: The wolfs are the mascot of Reno, and especially the University of Nevada, Reno. It has even been chosen as Mascot of the year 2011 (the guy in the shirt is not a wolf.. that's me ^^... i just haven't found any razor yet :D)

we also visited the Lake Tahoe with the environmental research center (quite interesting) as well as Pyramid Lake. The latter one is in the reservation of the Indians and I will end with a quote by Ben, our Muesums Lecturer:

Don't just catch a dream

make it happen.

I will be happy about comments and replys ;)

I hope also that I paid tribute to ancient feedback from my time in Uzbekistan, that I should add more pictures ;)

That climbing wall looks super awesome. I'd really like to check it out, and then have one of those steaks depicted above... yummy!
