Foo Fighters & more at Global Citizen
Being told to have done good for the world is pretty easy and enjoyable in the US. Go to the festival, good move! And it's also very nice!
A few days ago I was not sure ifI can go to the festival due to my injury. Luckily I can walk by now without crunches. However, I chose to use one for that evening for 2 reasons:
1.) Standing for a long time is not a good idea for an injured leg - so better get a third leg :)
2.) It might be useful for concert-entrance and finding of places (remembering NovaRock'12!!!)
The festival took place on the Grand Lawn and they really shutted down all possible entrances. Maris noticed that there is a huge amount of policeman present. Normally (in Europe :D), there are private securities. However, we got in fine and even found my austrian colleagues, who also won tickets (I got mine thanks to Maris, a Latvanian Fulbrighter).
This festival is dedicated to raise awareness to global problems like poverty, maternal health, etc... short the Millenium Development Goals (like the conference in Boston has been!). In between there were some awesome concerts - highlights Foo Fighters and Neil Young! It was really great!
Another thing that we europeans needed to get used to:
An open air festival without Beer/Spritzers (wine&sparkling water)... right you see the drinkingoptions available:
Some notes about that..
"Pease Tea" officially is an Iced Tea... it is and pretty good and for sure the best deal (as you get it in a 24 oz (more than 1/2l) can.
Coke&these drinks are groupped by Soda (haven't recognized that so far!). And it is cheaper than water!!
Water is f****** expensive. There was no possible to get it cheaper.
And except during/at the end of the foo fighters, you would have had to wait about one hour to get to the bar... I think there were only about 4 bars for 60.000 people.. no comment ;)
Afterwards we went for dinner and I got an awesome California Burger - with avocado!! So that's healthy ;)
