----> I GOT MY BIKE <----

"Dear MTA,

the experiences on subway have been quite interesting. Drummers, children selling cereals, meeting a nice girl, getting almost a ticket from the NYPD. However - you won't see me often anymore. I GOT A BIKE!!! YEAH - 2 wheels on the road  ;)."

Something like that could be a letter now to the New Yorker public transport service. Because today I finally got a great bike (found on craigslist, something like "willhaben") and paid just 100$!!!! Well, that was the price for the bike. But in order to keep it, I obeyed to the most important City-Bike-Rule: Your lock must look more expensive than your bike.

So I got good german quality - as written on the package "Das gute Gefühl der Sicherheit". After going on amazon and buying some additional items (lights, bottle holder,..), I though about an old joke. What have women and bikes (originally

computers) in common? As soon as you get one, you loose the rest of your money on assecoires ;).

Anyway, I enjoied already two great rides - up to the University and back down to my residence (in total 26miles+ in the city!). It's pretty nice to ride here... up i chose to go on the riverside drive where you see the real chiefs of new york (--> pic). In the evening I got another road and went through central park - almost more bikers and runners than cars on the street- AAAWESOME! I just like it ;). However it took me a lot of time since I had to look on  the map a few times and I'm not so familiar with NY-biking yet, but I will get used to it ;).

However when you know what the best thing about doing a lot of sports is? You can eat a lot!! And thats exactly what I did. At the university I enjoied for the first time full-meal availability:

mensa.JPGA lot of awesome Spagetthi with mushroom sauce and stewed vegetables (really good) with a lot of stuff from the salad buffet:

  • Eggs
  • Couscous with olives
  • tuna
  • fried calamari
  • baguette with garlic
  • beans
  • green salad
  • artichoke hearts (totally awesome!!!!)

And for drinking... a good powerade to keep the engines running ;)

In comparison... my dinner in the residence (after I went shopping for... too much money, cause buying big bags is always more efficient.. so I got 2kg of rice and a lot of bags like that :D).

It was awesome as well... Steak with Rice and vegetables - cooked in my camping pots and with the use of camping cutlery. To drink... soda citron (extra sour!!!) and to you recognize a little detail? It's the same cup as in the mensa ;)

Afterwards I went to my first class.. project Accounting! The Prof is really nice, has a good humor and explains the things in a great way. What's best? He always tells us where to get free food at what time (in exchange for listening to smart stuff).

Some Accounting knowledge... What's the difference between Equity, Capital and Surplus?

Nothing... It just needs to fit the view of the company - normal enterprises use equity, banks use the term capital and as NPO may not make any profit.. the use Surplus ;)

While going to the classroom, I saw one door which you may enjoy.. especially dear IT Students and even more if you did IT-Support:IT.JPG

Nice sounds good, one question though. Is the bike helmet specifically designed for not ruining your hair :D ?
